CKG ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Knifemaker Applicants:
- Applicants are accepted as Probationary for a period of one year at which time a knife will be required for examination by the Standards Committee. If they feel that you are progressing in your “Pursuit of Excellence”, you will
be elevated to full voting status. If not than you may stay on as Probationary for another year. - Both Probationary and Voting members are expected to participate in one (1) Annual CKG Show in three (3) to maintain membership Probationary members may not use their affiliation with the Guild to promote themselves or their work.
- “Knifemaker” will be interpreted as “one who hand forges and / or grinds a knife free-hand from bar or billet - kit knives or pre-built blades will not be considered.
- To apply for membership, please submit 5 photos of 5 knives you have made and a cheque for $150.00 to the Secretary / Treasurer at the address shown in the list of Directors.
Associate Applicants:
- Associates must be working in a field closely related to knifemaking. Examples would include, but not be exclusive to: engravers, scrimshanders, sheathmakers,dealers in handmade knives, suppliers of knifemaking supplies or equipment.
- Associates are expected to participate in one (1) Annual CKG Show in three (3) in order to maintain membership.
- Associates do not vote on Guild issues but are welcome at all workshops and seminars hosted by the Guild.
- Associates may use their affiliation in any way that reflects favourably on the Guild.
Friends of the Guild:
- Friends of the Guild fall into neither of the other two categories and yet have an interest in knives and knifemakers. You are interested in supporting the Guild in its “Pursuit of Excellence” and assisting in its growth.
- Friends are invited to attend the “Friends of the Guild” Gala, Friday night before all Guild shows.
- Friends are encouraged to participate in the “Friends of the Guild” Mystery Challenge, trophy awarded.
- Friends that attend the “Friends of the Guild” Gala or the Guild show are entered into the exclusive high end knife draw, only for Friends.
- Friends are admitted to the Guild Annual Show one hour early and are welcome at all seminars and workshops.
- While comments and suggestions are welcomed by Friends they do not vote on Guild issues.
